I wasn't averse to the march but not sure this is a great idea. If they are still in the Champions League then we just might be playing them at a decent time.

How about every one have a shit on their seats like the Sunderland fan did.

Dortmund threw tennis balls on the pitch but we can't throw them that far!

Reckon a verbal protest in the ground, along with loads of banners etc would be the best bet. (for the whole game).

With a boycott, sky/BT would prob only mention the empty seats a couple of times for about 30 seconds.

Re: Boycott the Man City game.
Yeah they might well have won the league by then so they will probably play their reserves like Jesus, Toure & Sterling.

City will have won the league by then

Might take their eye off the ball

I might also win the lottery

If we are going to boycott a game then it should be this one. We have no chance of getting anything from this game.

How about if enough (i.e. NOT EVERYONE) has a problem getting into the stadium for the game against Man City. Would it not then require the game to be delayed for "safety reasons"?

Re: Boycott the Man City game.
Can’t see any point in boycotting the match , with the game live on sky then protest in the ground verbally with banners and balloons, but no pitch invaders.

A walk out happens from 70 mins, win lose or draw at the Hotpoint anyway so again how would you notice the effect?

You've been very quiet recently, 1993?

Re: Boycott the Man City game.
If we are all honest, boycotting a game has zero effect anyway.

Zero effect on what we want to achieve anyway - which is the owners selling up. They won't care if there is a boycott as for many others like me who have paid there Season Ticket, they already have our money, regardless if we show or not.

Empty seats on a TV game will not even make them blink, as they already have our money.

Honestly, the best thing to do is what happened on Saturday (minus the pitch invasions). Screaming dogs abuse at them for 90 minutes may make them think fuck this why are we bothering, getting that kind of grief every week cannot be enjoyable. That kind of thing will have a much bigger impact than us just not showing up, considering they already have our money.

Of course they still are getting our money whether we are giving them grief for 90 minutes or not, but I think that at least will make them question staying or not much more so than a boycott.

At the end of the day I think nearly all of us can agree that what we want is for them to sell up, giving them grief for 90 minutes is the only possible way they will consider going I feel as boycotting has no direct impact on them as they already have our money, a few empty seats on TV has zero impact, nobody will give a shit, especially them, as they already have our money.

Re: Boycott the Man City game.
Absolutely it will work- if it's done right. The trick is going to be to get the word to the vast majority who won't be aware of any plans.

I would be delighted to be proven wrong, but I think not turning up or boycotting, or even a walk out might be too much to expect. Hopefully something gets agreed on, sorted, communicated and executed.

Re: Boycott the Man City game.
I wasn't saying they were the same. I'm saying if something is done right, not every single person has to be involved for it to be a success.

The 70 min thing was Liverpool's idea. Ours doesn't have to be the same, and it doesn't have to be on TV. Every game is covered these days so it doesn't matter whether it's a live Sky game or not.

El Scorchio 4:58 Tue Mar 13
Re: Boycott the Man City game.
A boycott is different to a walk out.

A walk out might be doable, but in all honesty in that particular game the majority of people will probably be leaving due to the scoreline anyway.

One McAvennieeeeee 4:52 Tue Mar 13
Re: Boycott the Man City game.
Liverpool fans managed it last season or the season before at home to Sunderland.

All walked out in the 70th odd min. Of course you will never get a full boycott, but it's very easy to make a big enough impact if it's done correctly.

El Scorchio 4:51 Tue Mar 13
Re: Boycott the Man City game.
Trouble is people WON'T boycott a game. Just won't happen. At least not in anywhere like the numbers where it'll be noticeable and to be honest it's not realistic to expect it.

I think it'll be very difficult to even get people to all go down to the concourses as one during a game as well.

It has to be something really simple and easy to do, like turning away from the pitch for a specified time, or everyone holding something up, or you just won't get enough people joining in or willing to join in.

If Man City are still in the CL then the game is likely to be rearranged.

Boycotting a game is far too simple and effective for a majority of the disgruntled fans to realise.
